grand opened in February of 2004, offering
personally guided group shopping tours to
the LA Fashion District. Now, in response
to consumer requests, the firm has added
a new “Walking-only Adventure” option.
Developed in response to demand from workers
and residents in Downtown Los Angeles, the “Walking-only
Adventure” gives shoppers quick, easy
access to the company’s unique guided
outings, without the added cost of transportation.
The new tour’s lower price tag makes
it affordable for more of the City’s
bargain hunters who want quality merchandise
and current styles.
The “Walking-only Adventure” tours
depart from the Urban Shopping Adventures
office, located one-half block from the LA
Fashion District’s core “Intersection” and
the four main apparel marts. Groups are given
a brief orientation, a complimentary shopping
bag with map guide, mini-map and other useful
information, plus bottled water. Walking-only
tours typically last from two to three hours,
cost $28 per person, and are accompanied
by a guide throughout.
According to Urban Shopping Adventures founder,
Christine Silvestri, the “walking-only” option
has become one of the most popular of four
packages offered so far, allowing more flexibility
than a large-group format with shuttle arrangements.
Says Silvestri, “It means that someone
who works Downtown or lives in one of the
new loft buildings can hop on the Dash or
walk over to our office, and get right into
the main event—shopping!” Tour routes are customized
to fit the group’s specific interests
or tastes. According to Silvestri, the majority
of shoppers are looking for great buys in
purses and other accessories, as well as
women’s apparel and some menswear.
Some tour guests are entrepreneurs looking
to familiarize themselves with the textile
and manufacturing side of the District before
starting a design-related business.
Developed by Urban Shopping Adventures with
endorsement from the LA Fashion District
BID (Business Improvement District), three
other tour options include transportation
from various locales in a choice of vehicles.
All tours offer detailed, personalized guidance
to the District’s varied and enticing
merchandise. Rates range from $28 per person
for the new “Walking-only Adventure,” to
a variable hourly rate for the high-end concierge
with limousine service, featuring pre-reserved
visits to designer studios and showrooms.
